Mighty Mud Pottery · Island Home Ave, Knoxville TN · 2026
Viewers have identified the tree as dogwood, redbud, and Japanese maple.
All three are welcome.
This two-face exterior mural wraps the corner of Mighty Mud Pottery, a working ceramic studio in South Knoxville’s Island Home corridor. The composition centers on a flowering tree in full bloom, its canopy spanning the north and west faces of the building and dissolves into open sky at the roofline.
The mural was completed over seven days in October 2026, two lost to rain.
The branching structure was built from the wall outward, beginning with field color and deepening through layered bloom clusters toward the dark trunk mass at the corner.
The garage door opening below was left to speak for itself, its depth reading as shadow behind the canopy rather than interruption.
Composed and positioned to welcome the runners, cyclists, rowers, and neighbors who move through this corner of South Knoxville every day.
The work was executed entirely by hand — brush and roller on primed exterior masonry block — using Golden Paintworks Mural & Theme pigments hand mixed in pan to a custom palette of fourteen colors.
The finished surface is sealed with a UV-stabilized varnish topcoat for long-term exterior durability.
Available for exterior and interior commissions. Commercial, institutional, and private wall inquiries welcome.
